I played a lot of Dungeons and Dragons in high school. Some in college. Then I moved to Seattle and have only recently found a new group to play with. One of my Florida friends enjoys the stories that my new group get up to, so I’ve been sending him videos where I read my notes and recount our adventures.

We generally play every other week, so the first couple minutes are spent catching up on what happened last time. The DM asks us to do that ourselves, possibly to see how much we were paying attention. To make this easier I’ve been running my videos through MacWhisper and using ChatGPT to clean up the transcript.

This is the prompt I use.

This is a transcript, improve any spelling and grammar mistakes and add punctuation where necessary. Leave out any triple dots or stutters or flubs, but don’t omit any information. Break into paragraphs as appropriate. Only perform the transcription improvements.

After GPT-5 was released, I found I have to go into MacWhisper’s Settings menu and select GPT-4.1.
